A Compared Study about the Effect of Cleanliness and Taste in Golytely versus Nulytely

Abstract
Colonic endoscopy is possible to visible observation of large intestine and ileum partly is utilized for diagnosis and treatment of colonic disease. A small residual quantity of the stool or turbid fluid is the cause of inaccurate observation. Therefore a clean colon is one of the most important steps for the successful examination.
Golytely valued the superiority of cleanliness, safety, rapidity but salty unpleasant taste become an issue. Recently the use of Nulytely is showing a tendency to increase. In Korea University Anam Hospital patients were divided into four Groups.
The protocols are Group ¥°(Golytely standard), Group ¥±(Nulytely standard), Group ¥²(pineapple Golytely), Group ¥³(pineapple Nulytely).
The results were as follows :
1. In preparation efficacy the Golytely group (regimen ¥° and ¥²) was superior to the Nulytely group (regimen ¥± and ¥³)
2. Patients preffered regimen ¥±, ¥² and ¥³ over regimen ¥° on the taste tests.
3. The study groups were equivalent on safety and patient tolerance. These characteristics lead us to consider regimen ¥²(pineapple Golytely) to be the method of choice for colonoscopy.
